August was a very lucky month for British Columbia Lotto 6/49 players as four major jackpot prizes were won in the region.
Eddie Uy of Richmond has brought home $7 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot from the August 3 draw. He has played the same set of numbers for the past 21 years. He matched all six numbers of the Lotto 6/49 results to win that jackpot.
Uy said: “I was going through my usual routine when I checked my tickets; I woke up early, made my lunch and got ready for work. Then I rubbed my eyes and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
He jubilantly received the prize at BCLC’s Vancouver office.
Uy plans to purchase a new house and invest his money for retirement.
Meanwhile, a group of 22 Langley construction workers received the second Lotto 6/49 jackpot of $3.3 million from the August 24 draw. Each member of the group received a cheque for $149,000.
Wayne Vander-Hoek is the leader and organizer of the lottery group play.
He said that he got a call telling him that their group had just won and he did not know what to do next whether to laugh or cry.
The winning ticket of these construction workers were purchased via a lottery subscription at Red Apple Grocery on Marshal Road in Abbotsford. Meanwhile, the Richmond winning ticket was bought at the Chevron gas station on No. 2 Road and Westminster Highway.
This is the second winning ticket over $7 million sold in Richmond for the month of August. Van Hen Lu, a fisherman, and his wife Thieu Mai Ly, won $7.2 million jackpot on the August 17 draw.
