A group of ten residents of Peterborough are in the process of claiming their lottery win of $5 million in the Lotto Max. The winning numbers they have were drawn on May 27, 2011.
As two members of the group are related to an employee at an OLG retail location, this particular prize falls under the so called OLG’s definition of an Insider Win.
As of the latest news, the prize claim has undergone the first step of a two-step Insider Wins process. The process entails an independent prize claim review conducted by a third party who works in partnership with OLG’s regulator – the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
The prize won by the group will fall under the 30-day waiting period as this is a part of the OLG’s Insider Wins process. The winners have to complete the prize claims prizes by waiting for 30 days so that OLG can publicize the win. In case there will be no additional claims on the prize, it will paid to the winners on August 25, 2011 based on the time period they wait to wait.
The winning ticket was bought at Smoke’s Den on Lansdowne St. in Peterborough.
